Subject: Reminder: NIH Biosketch and Other Support Updates Effective Jan. 25, 2022
Dear Colleagues,
NIH announced updated Biosketch and Other Support format pages and requirements for use in proposal applications, Just-in-Time (JIT) Reports, and Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs), effective for these actions submitted on or after January 25, 2022. The new requirements require a signature for the Principal Investigator/Project Director (PI/PD) and Senior/Key personnel on the Other Support form to certify the accuracy of submission. Other Support includes all resources made available to a researcher in support of and/or related to ALL of their research endeavors, regardless of whether or not they have monetary value and regardless of whether they are based on the institution the researcher identifies for the current grant. More information can be found here: NOT-OD-21-073 and NOT-OD-21-110. In addition, Other Support documentation, which includes copies of contracts/agreements specific to senior/key-personnel foreign appointments and/or employment with a foreign institution for all foreign activities and resources that are reported in Other Support must be included following the Other Support documentation. If the contracts/agreements are not in English, recipients must provide translated copies. PIs/Departments are responsible for including these attachments with their proposals. Copies of contracts/agreements that were routed to ORA are available in KR. Contact your Contract Administrator if you are unable to locate an agreement in KR.
In addition, PIs/PDs and other Senior/Key personnel on an active NIH grant are required to keep their other support information up to date. If UMD discovers or is notified that a PI/PD or other Senior/Key personnel on an active NIH grant failed to disclose Other Support information outside of Just-in-Time or the RPPR, as applicable, UMD ORA must submit updated Other Support to the Grants Management Specialist named in the Notice of Award as soon as it becomes known. The PIs/PDs and other Senior/Key personnel are responsible for providing up to date information to UMD to allow for compliance with this requirement.
Additional information regarding proper signature and how to flatten files can be found in the attached document. Please contact your Contract Administrator with any questions you may have.
Thank you for your attention to this matter,
Wendy T. Montgomery
