If you do NOT have an NSF ID (e.g 000XXXXXX), please use the NSF Registration button below to register. When your NSF registration is processed, you will receive two email messages: one that confirms your registration and contains your NSF ID and a second message that contains a temporary password. Your registration will be processed in one business day.
When prompted for “Enter username and password for https://umdsphosts.umd.edu”, please use your University Directory login name and password to access the ORA secure electronic submission system.
NOTE: If you have a problem logging in using Internet Explorer, you may need to change your domain by using "ad\<directory id>" or "<directory id>@umd.edu" as the username. You can also try using a different browser, such as Chrome or Firefox.
Your University Directory ID must have a valid @umd.edu email address associated with your account.

User with an NSF ID (FastLane/Research.gov ID)
If you already have an NSF ID (e.g: 000XXXXXX) but are not yet affiliated with the University of Maryland, you can log into Research.gov to request to add a new role/affiliation on your account.
From “My Profile,” click on the “Add a New Role” on your left menu
Click on the “Add Investigator Role”
Select “Yes, Prepare and manage proposals with an organization” and click submit.
There are 5 steps to complete the request to add a new role
Step 1: Find organization
Enter the organization’s DUNS number (UMD: 790934285) and click “Search.”
Verify the correct organization is displayed in the results section and click “Next.”
Step 2: Add information (eg: contact details, degree information)
Step 3: Choose Role(s)
Step 4: Review
Step 5: Confirmation
Your role request is sent to the listed Organization Contacts for review and approval. Your new role/affiliation will be approved in one business day.
